C'mon angel don't you cry

Okay so. Here is my official concert report. Beware of a lot of fanbrat squealing because... gosh darn it I don't care if people think I'm stupiud. I had a great time and I AM GOING TO SPLEE ABOUT IT. I would rather be regarded as a dumb fanbrat than as a bandom snob so... YEAH.

Okay so, before I start, let me do some explaining. This was my first real rock concert. Those of you who read by big mushy MCR post the other day knows how excited I was for this, but that didn't change the fact that I really didn't know what to expect. I had read countless concert reports talking about being in the mosh pit and being close to [insert name of band member here] so I decided THAT was where I wanted to be. I thought it might be a bit crowded and I might get pushed some, but again, had no idea what to expect. I had checked out the layout of the Congress Theatre and it looked like it was split into two parts: the pit and the balcony. I figured the twins wouldn't be up for braving the pit, so the plan was they would go for the nice comfy balcony seats while Cris and I braved the pit. No one ever said I was smart.

SO. On Wednesday we drove three hours, got lost in Chicago multiple times and had to take sleeping pills to get to sleep at night but we made it.

We got up bright and early on Thursday morning to get in line. We had to be there early because I, like the idiot that I am wanted to be in the mosh pit. Stupid Megzie is stupid. But we were prepared! We brought canvas chairs and umbrellas in case it rained. Well, it didn't rain, but the sun was blaring down on us so the umbrellas ended up coming in handy anyway. So, eight hours of waiting, which actually went pretty fast. It didn't seem like eight hours.

As it came time to go in, the nicely formed Disneyland-esque line that the people had formed started turning to chaos. As they started letting us into the theatre, people jumped the rope and cut in line which was major boo-urns. But the security people made them get back in line, which was good because we were near the front.

As we got into the building there was another mad rush to get into the actual theater. The twins headed for the balcony (because they were smart) while we went for the pit. Again, stupid Megzie is stupid. In the hallway we were very squashed as people kept rushing into closed doors. Cris was very uncomfortable and so was I to be honest. But hey, it's all good~! This was just the hallway! It couldnt possibly be as crowded when we actually got in there right? Right? WRONG.

When the doors to the actual theatre actually opened, there was another mad rush for the stage. Some girl actually tripped me and I fell on my side. But I got up quick enough and rushed to the front. That's when the real crushing began.

We were about three or four people from the front and we were JAM PACKED. Like... shoulder to shoulder PACKED IN THERE. And we kept getting pushed around. You really had to try and hold your ground to stay where you were. It was too hot and really uncomfortable and I didn't like it. There was one guy though who was pretty funny. He kept saying things like "THIS IS THE HANNAH MONTANA CONCERT, RIGHT?? 8DDD I LOVE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL LOL" But yeah. Still hot and crowded and uncomfortable and I was not happy. Cris sustained a few injuries from it. She got elbowed in the face and jammed in the side because someone had an umbrella in the pit.

We lasted through Dave Costa's performance, but halfway through Drive-By, I decided I'd had quite enough of the pit. I told Cris I needed to get out and surprisingly, people let us out pretty fast. After we got further back, not only was it infinitely more comfortable, but we could actually SEE BETTER. Imagine that.

So, anyways. Dave Costa was pretty... meh. Too much rap, not enough music. Drive-By was pretty cool I had to say. And Billy Talent was REALLY REALLY AWESOME. I must get their CD because they fucking ROCKED.

Let me just say that I am glad we got out of the pit when we did. I thought it was would when we were in there but during Billy Talent it started to get REALLY CRAZY. We saw it tumbling back and forth and people falling all over each other. So glad we weren't in there for that.

Now, one thing I think I learned at this concert was about PACING yourself. While the opening acts were going on I was rocking out and everyone else was just kind of... standing there. I was thinking "Hey! C'mon guys! These guys are good! Rock out some!!" But they all just stood there. Now I know why. They were saving their energy.

Anyways. Cris and I sat down and waited for MCR to come on. I was kinda tired already, but I was also totally PUMPED. My heroes were going to be on that stage and they were going to sing for me. Every time I heard someone scream I jumped up because I thought they were coming on stage. But no. It was still just the crew. After what seemed like MONTHS of waiting, the lights finally dimmed and the five people who saved my life filed on stage. I felt my heart stop for a second, then start racing. I jumped up and rocked out and sang/screamed along the whole time. I forgot exactly how the set list went, but between songs Gerard would say something. This concert made me realize just how much I love and admire him. He's such an amazing person... GUH. Mikey was wearing his Mikey Fuckin Way shirt too. I was amused. Ray's fro was SO AWESOME. It just like... WENT FUCKING EVERYWHERE. It was great. Of course, Bob and Frankie were awesome too. I was really happy that Frankie was there because I know he's skipped a few shows and he's Cris' favourite. So yeah. Glad he was there.

So yeah. First song they played was How I Disappear. Then I think it was The Sharpest Lives after that. After that Gerard yelled "ARE YOU ALL READY TO DIE? ARE YOU ALL READY TO DIE?" and they played Dead! which made me happy. It was about then that I looked at all the people in front of me, above me and in back of me and a thought came to me. These people, no matter who they were all had something in common with me. They all loved MCR. They all had been touched by their music in some way just like I had and had all come here, some from long distances and some from short to hear these five beautiful people play their hearts out. It was... kind of moving to experience that kind of communitas. It was awesome.

After that Gerard said something like "This is the last time we're going on tour for a long time. We're going to go back and write a whole new album full of terrible songs because you guys seem to like that sort of thing." And the crowd screamed!! See. This is why I love Gerard so much. Then he said "So I want you all to help me sing this song..." As soon as the first few piano notes played, I knew what it was. The song that I'd heard on September 9th 2007 and a song that gave me so much strength when I had felt so lost and alone. Welcome to the Black Parade. We'll carry on, we'll carry on. I sang the entire way through and was crying at the end. I don't care if it makes me a dumb fanbrat to say, but that song really did change my life. But it wasn't quite the one that saved my life. That one I was hoping would come later.

After that, they played one of the songs that I'd been hoping they'd be playing that evening. It was one of the B-sides to The Black Parade, but it's probably on of my favourite songs by them. My Way Home is Through You. It's an amazing song because it's ABOUT the fans. It's ABOUT me! It made me so happy that they played it. They actually played a lot of B-sides. They played My Way Home is Through You, Heaven Help Us and Kill All Your Friends.

I forgot exaclty when in the setlist they played it, but as soon as I heard Gerard sing the first line, I knew what it would be. I knew it would be the song that had me in tears the first time I heard it. The song that showed me the strength to keep on living, sung by the voice that sang to me in the darkest hours of the coldest months of the year. The song that saved my life. Famous Last Word. I almost started crying as they started playing. All those memories of feeling strengthened and empowered by that song came back to me. That and the energy from the crowd and the band and just.. GAH!! Everything. I jumped up and down, screamed the lyircs, and by the end of the song I was sobbing. Cris was crying too. I dont know how many dry eyes there were, but I'm sure there weren't many. That alone, will forever be one of the most amazing experiences of my life

They played I Don't Love You. After that Gerard said something like "We're going to play you an old song... right now" and the crowd just SCREAMED. They played Headfirst for Halos. Bullets songs FTMFW.

They played I Never Told You What I Do For A Living and Hang 'Em High. Then they played Cancer. After that, they made it seem like they were done playing, but they weren't. I knew they wouldn't stop until they played their first big hit.

The filed back on stage and played the first few lines of Destroy All Vampires. Again, Bullets songs for the fucking win. Then they played Mama. OH MY GAWD. That was SO HAWT. SOOOOO HAWT. I like... came. Right there. They played I'm Not Okay which was all kinds of fun. Then Gerard said, "This is the last song we're going to play tonight! It's the last song we're going to play tomorrow, and the day after that and after that until the day we stop being a band!" And they plaaaaayed Helena!! Cris was crying during that one, but I just rocked my heart out for the five people who aare my heroes.

So in a few words, the concert that I had so looked forward too was indeed an amazing experience. Cris got me a concert shirt that had the dates on it and it's so cute!! Other highlights were:

- Gerard being super gay. Seriously. Just his like... posture and gestures just scream GAYGAYGAYGAYGAY to me. But we all know he loves <strike>Frankie</strike> Lyn-Z.
- Gerard pointing out Mikey's shirt.
- Ray's hair. 'nuff said.
- Gerard jerking the microphone off. Yeah. That's right.
- Someone trying to give Gerard their shoes. He said something like "I don't need your shoes man. I got two of them right here."
- Gerard saying "I'm too young to die!! I'm too young to die!! And far too pretty!!" I screamed along with everyone else.
- Watching people in
- Gerard. Just him being there.
- The whole THING!! GAAAH!!

Today we were exhausted and sore and Cris and I were all bruised and beaten, but god was it worth it. I would have gone again tonight if I could have. It was one of the most amazing things I have ever done, and I wouldnt trade it for the world. I can't wait until they come back.

Book review: Twilight

Okay so. I finished up the book, Twilight a while back and I think it's time I write my sad little review.

When I first heard of Twilight was back in what... 2005ish? When my friend Laura came to me on aim, raving about this book she was reading. Apparently, one of the characters was (in her opinion) the most attractive fictional character ever. My reaction to this was "Hey cool. I should read that too sometime."

I later found out that said fictional character was a vampire. In fact the whole book was about vampires. In case you didn't know, I hate hate hate hate hate vampires. I think they're stupid and cliché and stories about them/with them are usually badly written with forced plots and underdeveloped characters. Carbon copies of every other shitty vampire story that came before. I never did see what was so goddamn attractive about them. Laura, however assured me that these vampires were different. They were good vampires. I was okay with that. Anything but fruity Anne Rice wannabes, right?

So I didn't get around to getting the book. I'm just not that big of a reader. I like reading, but I don't have the time to sit down with a book most of the time, you know? Then the twins and Emily read the books coming up with similar raving reviews. I really needed to read this book. However, being the classically lazy person that I am, I kept putting it off.

So then, a few months ago Cris comes up to me. Guess which book she's just read and is completely crazy about? Yup. Not only that but she's also read the two sequels and they're just as good. Now, my girlfriend and I have nearly identical tastes in books, movies, music, etc. If she likes something, then I probably will too and vice versa. I can only think of one thing that I love that she can't stand. Anyways. I had just started my job at Waldenbooks and thought I might as well take advantage of the check out policy and it was high time that I read this book anyways.

When I sat down that night with Twilight in my hands I was so ready, so ready to be completely obsessed with it. I was so ready to join my friends in the squealy fangirling over this book. So ready to fall in love with the characters and the writing and the story and everything. I was so ready to make this book my next obsession. So ready.

So I opened it and started reading, just waiting for the thunder to strike...

... and I kept waiting

... and reading

... and waiting

... and reading

... any time now thunder. Go ahead and strike.

But it never did. I was... underwhelmed by the mediocrity.

Now, just to make things clear. I'm not trying to be one of those contradictories that says they hate something just because everyone else seems to like it. Hell, I'm the last person to do that. I'm all to happy to jump on bandwagons and go SQUEE with everyone else. I hate people who are contradictory. It's annoying and petty and I have/have had too many friends like that to do it myself.

But here, I just couldn't help it. I tried to love this book. I wanted to. I wanted to love it. I really did, but I just couldn't.

The characters, especially the main character, are so unemotional it's painful. These characters are supposed to be madly in love with each other and yet they have no chemistry. How can they if they have no emotions? The whole book is painfully reminiscent of Eragon. Nowhere near as badly written, but as far as not being able to feel anything. The author describes things in great detail, yes but she doesn't allow to really feel anything.

Throughout the entire book I felt... stoic. I didn't care about Bella. I didn't care about Edward. Oh Edward. That character that everyone is so in love with. I don't see it. Oh yes, the author mentions how breathtakingly beautiful he is. She says it all too much. But she never describes how he is beautiful. I can't see him, so how I can I think he's attractive? (And if anyone even dares to suggest the reason for this is because of my sexual orientation I will stab you in the fucking face. I can find (fictional) men attractive. I'm just not attracted to them. I can admire them and fangirl over them but I would never want to share my life with them, understood?)

The book is dripping with overkill. There are characters that are supposed to be beautiful beyond belief in this book. She does a good job of drilling that into the readers' heads but never lets you really see them so every time it's mentioned how gorgeous a character is, I just felt annoyed that it's being mentioned for the millionth time. Like, yeah we get it. Shut up.

There is no emotion. There is no chemistry. There is no feeling. There is plenty of overkill. Underwhelmed by mediocrity.

I was about 80% through the book and so fed up with it that I was about to shelve it and say to hell with it. Luckily, the author was smart enough to put in a conflict at the end. Only then did it start getting good. Not because of the character development or lack thereof but because there was a sense of danger and urgency. I must say, I enjoyed the last part of the book vey much.

Now, one thing I will give the book credit for is it's portrayal of Vampires. As I said earlier, I hate vampires and most stories with Vampires in them. The only Vampire I really really like is Alucard from Hellsing. Why? Because he's not a faggy Lestat imitation. Far from it. He's a monster and he'll rip you to little itty bitty shreds without a second thought if you piss him off. Now, the Vampires in Twilight weren't quite of the Alucard variety, but they weren't of the other variety either. They are monsters. They are predators. But at the same time, they are capable of emotion (or they would be if the author knew how to write it worth a damn...). They are (supposedly) irresistibly attractive to their prey and posses super human strength and abilities. However, they are flawed creatures. Their predatory nature is difficult to overcome. Edward finds it difficult to be close to Bella without the fear of losing control for a few moments and killing her. I liked the way Vampires were portrayed very much. In fact, my favourite character in the whole book was one of the Vampires who only appeared briefly but for some reason was very well written.

Now, I picked up the second book in the series just before I quit my job. Why if I hated the first so much? Well, it's kind of how I felt about the show Heroes. I didn't particularly like it, but I do kind of want to know what happens, so I'll give you my shining review of that when I'm done reading it.

All in all, I didn't really hate the book. I guess I was just... disappointed in it. I was expecting a masterpiece to be obsessed with and I got... well not that :/

So uhh. Yeah. Sorry to dissappoint. I've probably pissed off half my FList. But hey, I never claimed to be an expert on writing or have good taste in anything I just know what I like and don't like so... yeah.

THE WHOLE WORLD THINKS YOU'RE DEAD!!! ISN'T THAT GREAT??

So, yah.

I guess my hiatus is kind of over. Oh well. I didn't expect t to last that long anyways. Hm. So I'm back, and here to give you the official AVATAR SEASON THREE REVIEW. WHOOWOO.

Before I get to that; fun things about today surrounding The Avatar Season Three premiere:

- Getting to be there, Damn.
- Putting my hair in hair loopie-doos~ Wheee~ I are Shui 8B
- Reading the Avatar Magazine with the twins. I WANNA ASK AZULA SOMETHING.
- Twins and I made an Avatar cake. FUCK YES WE DID. AND CUPCAKES MOTHERFUCKER. We took pictures. I'm so proud of us!! For people who've never really baked before, we did good, damnit. WE'RE CAKEBENDERS.
- Putting the icing on said cake and cupcakes. We decided to put the insignia's of the four nations on the cake with frosting. They turned out... <strike>amazing</strike> okay. The real fun happened when we decided to put icing on the cupcakes. We did the math, and we had 24 cupcakes, which meant six cupcakes for each of the four elements. However. We ran out blue really fast, so we had to improvise. We ended up with six Fire Nation cupcakes, six Earth Kingdom cupcakes, four Air Nomad cupcakes, four Water Tribe capcapkes and four randoms ones. We had one that had a black sun on it (day of black sun, durrhurr), one with the word "Iroh" on it (becuase it's only four letters long and... it's Iroh. 'nuff said), an Aang head, and something that could either be Sokka's boomerang or... a banana. You decide. I'll have pictures later.
- Feeding three obsessions at once. We were making the Avatar cake, talking about Avatar, I was playing WoW and we were listening to My Chemical Romance. Megzie is a happy Megzie. And I has a Blood Elf now. But only for ten days, Sad face. Does anyone know how to crack Burning Crusade? HALP!
- Assigning ships so we could beat each other up when hey didn't happen ala this comic. I was Zutara, Corinne was Kataang and Larissa couldn't decided, so she got saddled with Maiko. I did the most beating up. Damnit. Until we got to The Bending Battle. WHOO HOO.
- While we were siting watching SpoungBob (Eww.) and waiting for Avatar to start, we heard something (I tpyed "domsrhing" the first time I tried to type "something" o___O) in the kitchen. I rushed in to find my cat, Elrond had attacked the cupcakes. He'd managed to take out two Fire nation cupcakes, which inspired a slew of "Elrond did you get in trouble with the Fire Nation again?" Like the old lady in that one episode in season one. I had to wash the frosting off of Elrond in the sink. It was pretty amusing.
- The two seconds before the show actually started when we were hyperventilating we were so excited. "I CAN'T BELIEVE ITS ACTUALLY HAPPENING."
- Saying the intro along with the TV and knowing that thousands of other Avatards were doing the exact same thing. It's a great community.
- Calling Emily and Cris and fangirling to them during the commercial breaks. It was a cross country event. Excitinging~ Emily and I had a good squee over everything we could fit into four minutes of senseless fangirlish babble before the show came back on and we had to hastily hang up on each other. I wish the two of them could have been here to celebrate Avatar day with us, but THEY WERE HERE IN SPIRIT!! And they'll be here for ehte finale hopefully, so we'll throw A HUUUUUGE Avatar Party then!!

Okay. So. My actual review of the episode~

- First of all. Aang got hot. WOW. WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN.
- MAIKO WTF. I'm sorry. I just don't get that pairing. I mean... it's got potential I GUESS , but it's just pulled off so.... weird. There's no other way to put it. And I woudl have liked a little more background on that for those of us who didn't get the comic.
- Azula's advisors are scary. SCARY SCARY LADIES. I predict ths is what the twins will look like in 80 years or so.
- Sokka has a full ponytail. WHA-HA? No more wolf's tail. But DAMN des he look HAWT is that Fire Nation armor. Oh god. I came.
- The waterbending. THE WATERBENDING MOTHERFUCKER. I remember the days when I didn't like Katara because I thought she was a wimp and the obligitory female. Now she kicks so much ASS. It's not even funny.
- Metalbending. I. Came. SO HARD. I LOVE YOU TOPH.
- "Thank-you, the universe!" The first season three Sokka line!
- Wow. Aang really is the new Zuko. Emo much? Everyone in this episode had EMO. Save for Sokka and Toph. PLATONIC OTP. Go emo-free characters! Whoohoo!
- This is a little thing, but Zuko with the turtle ducks. Poor Zuko ;_____; I hope Princess Ursa is still alive for his sake.
- Fire Lord Ozai. WOW. Sexy sexy beast. I was so not expecting him to look the way he does. I was expecting something closer to the way Roku looks, but I s'pose that this is where Zuko (and Azula) get their good looks from. LUKE WENT TO THE DARK SIDE.
- Azula not in her Fire Nation armor. Wow, she looks normal. And... kind of hot o____o I'd hit it. She was totally trying to seduce Zuko. I could just hear her saying "It's too bad you're my brother..." as she sat there so slinkily on her bed in her robe. I'm not your brother, Azula!!
- OH MY GOD AZULA IS SUCH A MANIPULATIVE BITCH. I LOVE HER SO MUCH. (But she is crazy... and needs to go down.)
- Hakoda and Bato look the same :| But they're both old man sexy so it's okay.
- Katara's confrontation with Hakoda. I liked it, but I almost would have liked to see it in a later episode. It was briliiantly acted though. Good job Mae! And when Hakoda said he missed Katara and Sokka so much it hurt, I wanted to cry.
- Aang flying through the storm. AND DOING THAT FUCKTASTIC DIVE INTO THE WATER I CREAMED MY PANTIES OH MY GOD.
- SPEAKIN' OF OLD MAN SEXY, LETS HEAR IT FOR ROKU YOU SEXY SEXY (DEAD) OLD MAN, YOU.
- Yue's cameo was amazing. I didn't even like Yue that much, but her apperance was just... so beautiful!! There's no other word to describe it. I love Yue~ OH and her tidal wave inducing waterbending was HOT.
- On that note, if you have to invad the Fire Nation do it on a tidal wave. Hotness.
- THE GLIDER. THE GLIIIIIIDERRRRR!!111 I know it was just a prop, but I feel as if a major character has DIED. I will miss the glider.
- WHERE THE FUCK IS IROH?
- GOD IT NEEDS TO BE NEXT FRIDAY RIGHT NOW OH MY GOD. I NEED MORE. MOOOOOOOOOORE.

Gaaaaah~ Is so happy!! Here are the photos I promised.

Me with my hair loopy-doos~

I AM SHUI!! Or rather pretending to beat each other up over respective ships ala this comic. HAY MAYBE WE'RE BENDING DURRHURR. Only time and photoshop will tell! I'm pretty sure I'm winning. I've got Corinne's shirt and she's got one of my hair loopies. Yeah, I'm probably winning.

Well... actually we tried to fight but fell into a fit of giggles at the funny faces we were both making

Corinne with MY Avatar boxset. Ahhhhh Avatar~

Needless to say, I am a very very very very happy Megzie right now. It's been one hell of a month, but I've had more then enough fun tonight to make up for all the angst and drama.

And we nine more weeks of this in a row. HOT DAYUM. I KNOW WHAT I'LL BE DOING ON EVERY SINGLE FRIDAY NIGHT UNTIL THANKSGIVING.

I remember back in high school when the twins mentioned something about a show called Avatar. I watched the first few episodes and thought ti was pretty cool, but it wasn't until last summer that I really got into it. Who knew that I would be so totally and utterly obsessed with it now that it has engulfed my LIFE!! BAH I LOVE AVATAR. IT IS A FUNNY SHOOOW~

Now, off to bed with me. I have to get up very very very very early tomorrow. Blah. Oh well, I'm happy to have to get up early if it means I got to have my Aavatar Day!

FOR THE WATER TRIBE!!! *slinks out~*

Bookmarks anyone?

(x-posted from my dA journal)

I quit...my job, that is. Yeah. I threw in the towel. I just couldn't take it anymore. For those of who who didn't know, I was a telemarketer of sorts. Guh. It was horrible. I know I did a fair amount of complaining about my food service and retail jobs, but they were nothing compared to being an Inside Sales Representative. Getting up at 5am to beat traffic, then spending eight-ten hours a day on the phones, being yelled at and hung up on by rude people who couldn't even take the time to realize that I wasn't trying to sell them anything. It was exhausting, physically and emotionally. I just couldn't do it. You will not know human cruelty until you have worked as a telemarketer

Soooo I quit.

I thought about looking for another job while I'm out here but decided against it in the end. Why? Because I've only got a few more weeks to spend with Cris before I have to go home for the fall semester. I'd rather spend the little time I have left out here with Cris than trapped in a cubicle all day.

I'm okay as far as money goes. I have enough to last me the rest of the summer, but if you'd like to donate to help me out, that would be nice xD But here's the cool part. For every $5 you donate, I'll send you a bookmark! Here are the designs I currently have available. Just give me your address and specify the number of which design(s) you'd like in the payment info and I'll send one to you!

Thanks so much in advance, guys!!
Life's just grand at... something.

So. I officially make $.59 an hour here :|

BUT THAT'S BETTER THAN WHAT I WAS MAKING BEFORE WHICH WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING 8DDD Because one of my appointments sold. Yaaaaay~

Oh man, I am starting to get sooooo apathetic about this job it's not even funny. But it's hard to stay positive when it's grueling work and you get nothing but negative feedback and you don't even get PAID. That and one of out team members has been out since like... last week Monday. Blah. I'm so bad at this. And the Account Executives (the ones who actually go on these appointments) are so fucking PICKY. JEEBUS CHRIST. Like... they keep telling us to try to get Attorneys and chiropractors and dentists and stuff, the problem is those are the hardest people to try and get. They've flat out told us not to call restaurants and salons and car places. Whatthefuck. Oh well. Fifteen more work days to go. Hopefully I'll make more than a grand total of $33.12.

I've made one appointment so far today. My call counts are god awful though. Oh well.

Uhhh... I had something else to put here, but I can't remember what it was.

... on the bright side, SUSHI FOR LUUUUUNCH~ 8DDD

ACen 2007: SHAZAM!

Waaah I just slept for six hours |DD Oh that felt good~

SO! Here's my ACen report!

So, Wednesday I got up and wen to school, then cam ehome and ran around for a few hours like a madwoman trying to get everything done. Well, like so many things in life, you never finish, you just run out of time. But I managed to get most everything done before going to pick Cris up at the airport. I drove home and we all had Noodles & co. for dinner and watched Little Miss Sunshine.

Thursday we got up early to eat pancakes. We packed up the truck then Cris dropped me off at school to go to my last Anthropology class. I had planned to take my Film final early that day, but decided against it since I could just take it on finals week anyways and we needed to get on the road. After a quick detour back to my house (I had forgotten my badge x__x;;) we headed over to the Twins' apartment where we met up with Twins, Emily, Kaiser, Laura and Messa. A few more stops and one traveling prayer later we were on our way to the Windy City! We all caravaned down as Team Fire Emblem (Emily/Roy and Kaiser/Marth), Team Hyrule plus Snake in a Box (Larissa/Zelda, Corinne/Sheik, and Messa/Link) and Team Toadstool (Cris/Yoshi and Me/Peach). The ride went smoothly and we made really good time, getting into the Chicagoland area at around 4:30pm. Cris, Kaiser and I went to check into the hotel where we met our first smelly Otaku. I had stolen Larissa's Urahara hat and he marched upt o me and said "HEY!! You're wearing Urahara's hat! Yes I watch Bleach!! Blah blah blah!!" And he smelled too. Ugh. The three of us stood there staring at him in awed annoyance. It was impressive. The con hadn't even started and we;d encountered a stinky fanboy. Anyways. Got into the hotel okay and dumped our stuff in the room. Cris, Messa, Emily and the Twins went to go get their badges, or at least try. The line was out the convention center door and around the corner. They all decided to try again after dinner. We met up with Carl and co. and went to Chili's where there was much giggling and stick-figure porn drawing. Josh also had a huge ice cream cake thing for dinner. That was awesome. Headed back to the hotel and Cris, Messa, Emily and the twins tried again to go get their badges. The line had already closed, but they let Messa in since she was at the Artist alley. We watched TV and I went ot work finishing my Belldandy wig. Got to sleep pretty late.

Woke up Friday morning to Cris getting up at 5am to go down to the badge line. Well... kinda. I woke up and promptly went back to sleep. Woke up again to her calling me saying "TELL EVERYONE TO GET DOWN HERE. THE LINE IS GETTING LONGER AND ARTIST ALLEY IS BEING SET UP." I hurriedly woke everyone up (Messa told me groggily "We stayed up all night talking about SHAZAM." I would later find out what that actually meant, but in the meantime it was pretty funny.) Messa and I carted our stuff down to the convention center and set up out table. We were next to Centi, who is AWESOME. She's like... INSANE and fun to sit by!! She drew me porn too :333 I hope we can be next to her next year too! I got my first commission of the con, which was a marker commission. I was psyched! I ended up working on it all day, but it was so fun to do! Uhh... yeah. Most of the day was spent being chained to the art table. I don't think I even got to Main Programming. Buut yeah. Hung around the art table. Got quite a few commissions. Stayed until close when we packed up and headed back to the hotel. Everyone was pretty tired and hungry and cranky and so it was hard to order pizza with everyone in a bad mood. I myself felt sick, but we got pizza and watched AMV Hell III. Loooooove~ I finished up my Belldandy wig, which looked AWESOME if I do say so myself. Headed to bed, again pretty late.

Saturday things got a little messed up. We all woke up super early to get into cosplay. I got into Belldandy, Messa got into Urahara and Cris got into Organization XIII and we headed down to the art table. Lots of people asked for my picture. Oh yeah! That's right! People take your picture at cons! SQUEE!! *poses* Again, I was stuck at the Art Table most of the day, but the costume was VERY well received and I felt so PRETTEH in it! Around 3:30 I, rather clumsily packed up my art table stuff and headed back to the room to do some touch ups on my costume before the Masquerade. While I was heading back to the Art Table to get Cris, I heard that they had sold tickets to the Masquerade and they were sold out. That was unheard of. Almost ludicrous! They never sell tickets to the Masquerade! It had to be a mistake! But I asked a few staffers and yes indeed, you needed to get tickets to get into the Masquerade. This was the first I had heard of this. I'd had no idea. They hadn't told me when I checked into the Masquerade or anything. I was very upset. Since I hadn't known about the tickets and hadn't gotten any and Laura and Zephy hadn't followed through on saving seats for us like they usually do, I decided not to enter. My costume was getting painful anyways. I had Cris take some photos of me in my coplsay before heading back to the room and ripping the whole thing off. I contemplated trying to set things back up at my Art Table, but what was the point? The dealer room was going to close soon anyways. I was very upset. What worse is that I later found out that at the last minute they had SCRAPPED the whole ticket idea and just started letting people in. Yes, ACen will be getting a letter from me about this. I spend literally hundreds of dollars to get there every year and I expect only the best in return, or at least better than the extreme sloppiness that I saw this year. Yes, yes, a letter of extreme disappointment is in order. Anyways. Went back to the room where we had a YouTube Marathon and watched Laputa: Castle in the Sky. We were going to go to the Hentai room, but I was waaaay too tired. Went to sleep instead.

Sunday we overslept a bit, so there was much rushing around to get everything packed up before heading down to the art table. Cris was an amazing help here. She made me and Messa go down first while she packed up our stuff in the car. She was truly a hero that day. Well... she was a hero the whole con, but... yeah. Sunday turned out to be my most profitable day at the Art Table. I changed my layout a bit and sold most of my stuff. In the end I managed to break even! The Twins had already left before any of us had gotten up, and Emily and Kaiser had to leave early too, but Cris, Messa, Laura and I all stayed until close. It was a sad parting. I didn't want it to be over! I wanted to stay! I wanted ACen to be again! It had been a exhausting but wonderful weekend! We said goodbye to the Rosemont Convention Center and headed home.

Anyways, this was a VERY fell good con for me. It was really the first time in a LONG time that I seriously felt sad to leave. I really felt good about myself. I managed to break even at my Art Table (and even made a profit of $32 xDD), my cosplay was a HUUUGE success, and best of all, my friends told me that I was a fun person to go with cons to. Messa even told me that she couldn't wait to go to another con with me. That five minutes of conversation was worth everything it took to get there. After all the shit that went down around NoBrandCon 2005, I was under the impression that I was a horrible con going partner, but apparently, I'm a super fun con going buddy! That made me sooo happy~ Maybe I'm not such a bad person after all!

So yes. I had a fucking blast. It was exhausting and I don't think I could do it more than once a year. As I say "The point of ACen isn't to be comfortable! It's to have FUN! And be MISERABLE DOING IT!!" That pretty much describes the weekend. It was GREAT.

So! Here is the list of quotes from the weekend
- SHAZAM!! (This is a euphemism for ejaculation, but it was yelled with pride many a time during the con_
- THIS IS CAAAAAKE TOWN/MUSHROOM KIIIINDGOOOOOOM/AAAAAACCCEEEENN!! (300 PG/VG Cats/ My own goofiness quotes)
- FROOOSTING!! (300 PG again.)
- BRUSH YOUR TEEEEEETH!! (More 300 PG)
- Draw me PORN! (Pretty self-explanitory...)
- Beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep! (From AMV Hell III)

There are probably more, but I can't remember any xD;;

Aaand here are a few pictures fo yours truly!! Cris has more, but for now, here are a few of me~

Here is me and Messa at the Art Table.
